Product Overview

Our clear Stratford Ceiling Panels are just that. Without pigment or surface texture they allow maximum light transmittance.

Stratford Ceiling Tiles are cost-effective, easy-to-use, and by far our best-selling style. Made from our Feather-Light Series 0.013 in. thick vinyl plastic, they are unlike any ceiling tile you will ever see or feel. You may be surprised by their minimal weight, but their thermoformed design combined with the inherent strength of vinyl makes these tiles rigid, durable, and easy to install and maintain.

The “lume” in Ceilume stands for ILLUMINATION, and with our Transluminous® Ceiling Tiles we give you three unique ways to let the light shine in, whether you want localized lighting effects or a fully illuminated ceiling. Our clear material is just that. Without pigment or surface texture it allows maximum light transmittance. It passes light like a window pane, but because of our manufacturing process it lacks window clarity, causing some cosmetic imperfections and witness lines to be visible. Place tiles directly beneath lighting fixtures in traditional interiors, or throughout the entirety of your installation for a fully-illuminated ceiling effect.

All of our Feather-Light Series tiles are Class A fire rated, 100% recyclable, completely waterproof, Greenguard Gold Certified for indoor air quality, and made in the USA. For the look of plaster or tin, with the flexibility, durability, and versatility of vinyl - look no further!

How would you install a pot light on your 2x4 Stratford tile? Or vent. When I cut the measurements for the vent and installed. The middle caves in.

Asked by: Needhelp33
The International Building Code requires that all lights, HVAC grilles, speakers, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. No ceiling tile should be used to support any of those items. Here a link to a short video showing the correct way to install a standard new construction can light housing in a Ceilume Ceiling Tile: https://www.ceilume.com/howToVideo.cfm?path=video/howToInstall/ceilume-how-to-install-recessed-lighting-with-ceiling-tiles&style=Drop&source=customerService&hasPoster=0 HVAC vents must be supported by the grid as well which may require some addtional grid cross pieces at the location of the vent. If you are installing a low profile LED light or have any additional questions, please call Ceilume at 800-557-0654 to discuss your installation.

Looking to do a new basement bathroom with the Stratford Stone tiles (2x2). There is currently no finished ceiling, but only exposed joists. What is the minimum clearance from the joists that is needed to lay these tiles into the grid?

Asked by: Jim B
Because the tiles can be flexed during installation, they can be installed in tight spaces. You should leave about 3" between the top of your ceiling grid and the underside of your joists. We'd be happy to send a free full-sized sample for your review. Just give us a call at 800-557-0654; we're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm PST.

Hello, I've read that these title can be use in the bathroom and above a shower/bath which is exactly what I'm looking for. How would installing the bathroom fan be done? Do I simply put a hole in the tile and ceil the surround with mold resistant caulk?

Asked by: Jean
The International Building Code requires that all lights, HVAC grilles, exhaust fans, speakers, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. Once properly supported, the cover plate for the exhaust fan should extend out beyond the cut edges of the tile to prevent water from splashing into the hole so caulking should not be necessary.

tickness

Asked by: claire
Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles are made from a rigid vinyl that is .013" thick (about the thickness of a business card). They get their rigidity from the geometric shape that we mold into the material and since they're imprevious to moisture, they won't sag over time like old school mineral fiber tiles. If you'd like to see a free full-sized sample, give us a call at 800-557-0654. We're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm PST.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! We custom cut these to fit existing fluorescent fixtures, these are sized as tiles, not lenses. the result is excellent. This is our second job with Ceilume, Total 6,500 sq. ft. so far. I'm delighted with the product quality, and the customer service. We will be buying more soon for the net phase of this commercial building.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best thing since... Slice bread. Stratford tiles. That’s become pretty much become my order of “the best things since…” As a DIY homeowner for 60+ years and four very different homes, my discovery of Ceilume’s tiles was a sincerely-welcomed revelation. For too many years the only real choice in suspended ceilings were standard acoustic tiles. Awkward, heavy and quickly prone to accumulation of moisture, dirt, stains and breakage. Suddenly, there was a choice: Stratford. The Stratford tiles are light, so easy to trim and fit, a beautiful enhancement to any room, washable and durable. Yes, they’re more expensive than acoustic tiles but they’ll look great forever with virtually no care while the acoustic tiles I replaced were near disgraceful at 8-9 years. I can honestly say the extra cost of the Stratfords was more than justified by the ease of my efforts. There’s one more significant advantage I can vouch for: lighting. Anyone who has installed overhead lighting in acoustic tiles knows the grief of installing mounting frames for fixtures. Though the Stratford tiles are light and thin, they easily support today’s puck-like LED lights without deformation of any kind. The fixtures themselves are most often two ounces or less while the installation boxes are easily affixed to the beams just inches away. Adjustable for your choice of intensity and easily dimmed, the combination offers a marvelous flexibility of choices for any room. I spent 25 years in the same house until retiring after four distinctly different careers recently. I gave up that home for a more modest, 1955-built home, and made replacement of the acoustic ceilings my first choice for the ideal basement retreat. The beauty stuns any visitors familiar with the space before the change. And I get to take the credit for the work and the choice of the Stratford. Highly recommended. Unless you still love to slice your own bread for the BLT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only way to go. Worked perfectly for two rooms in the basement. They are impervious to moisture and very easy to install. They are also very forgiving when it comes to fit and finish. The only downside is they are very light and can lift up from the grid when you open the door into the room. To minimize this, make sure you insulate above all the interior walls in your room. The idea is to block all paths that would allow air to escape from above the ceiling into an adjacent room when the door is opened. This solved the problem for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Transformation I used these to cover my old dropped ceiling tiles. I used them in a full basement about 1800 sq ft. I placed them over the old tiles, using them to weight down these new vinyl tiles which works two ways in that it does a good job of keep the ceiling tiles in place and you don’t have the mess of cleaning up and throwing out the old tiles. You never need to worry about stained tiles again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super DIY friendly I’m so happy to have found this brand product. If you’re tired of the same boring fiberglass ceiling tiles, look no further. These tiles are super flexible and easy to install. All you’ll need is a quality pair of shears and you’ll be amazed how quickly and easily these ceiling tiles get cut to size/shape and placed in place for a super high end finish was an amazingly affordable price. Also, the customer service is second to none. Just call their phone number and a knowledgeable and caring person answers within 3 rings. Don’t second guess this product, just get them, and love the look after your finished. I’ve had mine just over a year and they look brand new.
