Sorry to ask an amateur question but what is the difference between the "standard" "refacing" and "glue-up" version of these products?  Do they all have an adhesive back?  Are they all of similar width?  the "standard" option is the one one listing width.

Asked by: flyingpumpking
"Standard" tiles can be installed in a standard 1" drop ceiling grid, "refacing" tiles can be installed underneath an existing tile in a ceiling grid, and "glue-up" tiles can be glued to a flat surface. You'll notice that some tiles offer all three options - there is no difference or change in the tile itself when you order any of the three designations. They are only there to tell us more about how you plan on installing the tile. Any tile with all three options can be installed in any of those three manners. However, tiles that only offer the "standard" option can only be installed in a drop ceiling grid on their own.

How many strips do you need. Is it 2 per tile?  Thanks Jeff

Asked by: Sisi
We normally recommend about 1 bundle (25 strips) per (10) 2' x 2' tiles. However, the exact count you need will depend on the size and layout of your space. If your grid is already installed, your best bet is to count the 2 foot sections of grid to find out how many strips you'll need. If it's not installed, you can also use our Ceiling Calculator on the site to draw out your room and ceiling grid, and get an estimate for what you need. Note that your ceiling must be installed relatively similar to the layout you design on the calculator for accurate results.

What is the benefits of using the decorative strips rather than the joint tap or do you use both?

Asked by: Amy 1950
The Decorative strips are intended to cover the joints where the tiles butt together in a glue-up installation. The Decorative Tape is used only to cover ceiling grid in a lay-in ceiling installation.

How do I figure the # of trim cases I need for 50 ceiling tiles?

Asked by: BasilsMom
You will need about one bundle of Deco-Strips for every 10 ceiling tiles you're planning to install. For fifty tiles, you should order 5 bundles. Please follow the installation instructions provided with the strips to insure a beautiful and long lasting installation. Of particular importance, make sure to clean the tiles AFTER installation but before installing the Deco-Strips. This will remove any dust or finger print oils and allow the strips to properly stick to the tiles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst spent money for labor, spent money on product, not sticking..coming loose and falling down on people's heads...this is a lawsuit with my business for sure if they come down and hit a client in the face while having a Spa treatment

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Way to cover up an ugly ceiling My cottage home is nearly 100 years old and the ceiling was covered in mineral fiber tiles that were ugly, plus I had some unique issues when I removed a closet leaving an area that wasn't covered in the old tiles. I didn't want to remove the entire tiles as it would mean I'd have to take down all the furring strips and stapes, plus install drywall. This was not an option, so I found Ceilume tiles were an easy way to coverup the problem. I chose the Stratford 2 x 4 lightweight tiles as an excellent way to cover all the issues and it didn't take long to install.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decorative Strips, look great don't stick The good news is these tiles are relatively inexpensive, look good, and are quick and easy to install. The bad news is the adhesive just doesn't hold for long. I followed all the instructions, extensively cleaning the old grid and pressing firmly and holding the strips into place. They all stayed in place for days, and I figured the all the complaints online were from just not following instructions, then they started to fall down. Now, every week 5-10 strips come loose and have to be attached with adhesive. After several months I have gone back and re-glued about 30% of the strips and am sure this will continue. In retrospect, the best comment I've heard about these is that if you choose to use them, get some silicone adhesive and apply it during installation because if you don't you'll have to do it over time as they fall down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to work with I was pleasantly surprised how easy to put up strips to finish my tile...they really made the tiles stand out more and look beautiful

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The finishing touch! The strips pull the whole look together. They are easy to work with but if you pull them off to adjust them they don’t stick as well and you’ll need to apply the adhesive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking strips I bought this for our white ceilume tile a few months ago. While it certainly makes the tiles look much better and more stylish, the adhesive in the strips dont adhere for too long. After a few days of being placed, some of the strips fell. Had to put glue on it for it to stick. Otherwise im contented with the product especially the white ceilume tiles in the basement.
